Face Lift Patient #1

This is a middle-aged woman from the Midwest who presented to Dr. Sweis complaining of looking older than she feels. She was particularly bothered by the jowls and the appearance of looking tired most of the time. She was very concerned about the possibility of looking over-done and requested a very natural result. Upon physical examination, she was found to have thin tissues, jowls and prominent neck bands. In addition she had thinning lips which can give an aging appearance to the mouth region. This patient underwent a neck lift including tightening of the neck muscles (platysmaplasty) and a SMAS (superficial musculo aponeurotic system) face lift. This procedure addresses the tissues beneath the skin, raising them to a more youthful position, and allows a natural re-draping of the skin. For this woman, the incisions for the face lift were mainly behind the ears and inside the ears to minimize visibility. She also underwent lip rejuvenation with Juvederm Ultra® XC placed in her upper and lower lips in effort to add some volume to her lips. Her postoperative photos are 7 months following surgery.
